career today. Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is currently
seeking a Sr Principal Mechanical Engineer - Support Equipment to
join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will
be located in Melbourne, FL.AccomplishThe selected candidate will
contribute in the research, design, analysis, manufacture, and
testing associated with aircraft Support Equipment. Essential
Functions:
- Mechanical design of test, measurement, and handling equipment
used on military aircraft.
- Gathering of data, requirements development, interfacing with
suppliers, and performing basic stress and tolerance analysis
- Acting as manufacturing liaison during build process of your
project to ensure overall quality, delivery, and cost objectives
are achieved
- Development of test plans and performing environmental testing
of Support Equipment
- Testing and integration of manufactured Support Equipment on
aircraft
- Extensive experience in design, drafting, and stress analysis
of mechanical systems. Drafting skills shall include strong
knowledge of solid modeling software, (NX, Pro Engineer, or Catia),
or CAD based computer drafting software.
- Must be willing to travel to various site locations to
demonstrate the function of the designed equipment.SucceedThe
individual we seek will be self-motivated, proactive, goal-oriented

will possess the following qualifications. Basic Qualifications
for:
- Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering or related STEM from an accredited university and eight
years' experience in the design of mechanical and/or
electro-mechanical subsystems OR a Masters in Aerospace
Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related STEM with 6 years of
related experience OR a PhD in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical
Engineering with 4 years of related experience.
- Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final
adjudicated DoD Secret clearance, and any program access(es)
required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as
determined by the company.
- Experience using CAD software in generating detailed
engineering drawings used for manufacturing of mechanical and/or
electrical assembliesPreferred Qualifications:
- Support Equipment Design Experience
- Experience using FEA software in performance of stress analysis
of mechanical and/or electrical assemblies to include static and
dynamic analysis to MIL-STD-810 requirements
- FAA A&P Certificate or equivalent aircraft maintenance
background
- Experience -developing manufacturing drawings to -GD&T

Range: $107,800 - $161,800The above salary range represents a
general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of
factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and
responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience,
education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the
position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift
differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as
well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in
Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term
Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of
benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability
