Earth.This position reports to the Systems Engineering Section
inside of the Advanced Development Programs business unit and is
responsible for leading the requirements engineering team for one
of our Space Destination programs.In this role, you will lead and
mentor a team of systems engineers and help lead implementation of
systems engineering processes. We ask that you are proficient in
handling the challenges, technologies, and solutions that address
the space environment and have knowledge in diverse subject areas
such as, fluids, thermal management, navigation and control,
software, and/or human rated vehicles. You are adept at working to
a plan, adjusting it and prioritizing efforts while infusing and
facilitating creativity and innovation. You enjoy leading people
and growing teams to achieve program objectives. Ideally, you have
direct experience developing, integrating, and delivering a deep
space system such as a spacecraft, rover, or lander.We are looking

required!Responsibilities:Perform and/or lead aspects of the team
as it grows including the following:
- Lead and be technically responsible for a team of engineers
performing requirements engineering in human rated space
applications.
- Apply heuristic and functional decomposition techniques to
scope the design and development.
- Ensure team is trained in and adheres to policies, standards,
processes and procedures.
- Develop the concept of operations that describe what the system
is supposed to do without implying an implementation.
- Define and track system technical budgets and technical
performance metrics throughout the program lifecycle.
- Document system-level behavior, such as states and modes,
functional block diagrams, and data flows.Qualifications:
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or
Aerospace engineering or equivalent technical field.
- Experience in rapid definition of space system requirements and
concept definitions that span a broad range of mission
objectives.
- Leadership and management experience as well as a history of
mentoring.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent
resident.Desired (but not required) Experience:
- M.S. degree in Systems Engineering or equivalent technical
field.
- Successful candidates in this role typically have 8+ years of
related experience in the design, development, and flight test of
aerospace systems, preferably spacecraft, rovers, and/or
landers.
- Space flight systems certification process experience
- Experience with human spaceflight.
- Fault-tolerance strategies and architectures for safety and
critical systems.
- Experience across the product life cycle (pre-conceptual design
through field support).
- Solid understanding of version control (e.g. git/gitlab,
subversion).
- Knowledge of collaboration tools such as Confluence and
JIRA.
- Solid understanding of configuration and data management
software (Windchill, DOORS, or JAMA).
- Good understanding of formal risk and opportunity management
