About CIPWe're the College Internship Program (CIP), and we've
been helping young adults on the autism spectrum and with learning
differences find success in college, employment, and independent
living in our centers across the US since 1984. CIP's programs are
specially designated to help young adults make successful
transitions from adolescence to young adulthood. Our vision is to
challenge the norms of what people with learning differences can
achieve. Position OverviewThe Student Support Specialist
collaborates with students in helping them to become well-rounded,
informed citizens who can live independent and self-sufficient
lives as well as navigate the community. The specialist may work
simultaneously in multiple functional areas depending upon center
requirements and individual development goals. As such, the Student
Support Specialist will familiarize themselves with handbooks and
other relevant job content for additional functions as they are
given assignments there.ObjectivesAssist student in building
independent living skills and other functional competencies and
routines in helping them achieve their goalsEngage students in
productively exploring and connecting within the CIP and external
communityTrack coordination of student goals through their
achievement in CIP programmingStandard ActivitiesAssist students in
transition and adjustment to independent living through delivery of
Life Skills curriculumCollaborate closely with program staff to
deliver services in other key functional areas as dictated by
student need (e.g., academic, career, social, etc.)Assist with
Person Centered Planning and Semi-Annual Progress reportsRespond to
problems, policy violations, and other issues that might arise and
escalate as appropriateAdministrative duties associated with the
position include, but are not limited to:Communication with fellow
staffRegular monitoring of student progressWriting or updating
student reportsRecording student attendanceCompleting weekly
student assessment formSupporting students with schedule planning
and goal-settingOther duties as assignedSkills, Education and
RequirementsBachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in a
related fieldAt least two years related experience and/or
trainingStrong special education background, particularly at the
higher education levelExperience in the field of autism and/or
learning differences preferredProficient with computer software for
office tasks and in learning new company computer software
programsMinimal to no travel required
