Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an exciting engineering career opportunity for a Principal / Sr Principal Systems Architect - Survivability to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position can report out of Melbourne, FL, Redondo Beach, CA, or Rancho Bernardo, CA. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Low Observable system performance using analytical tools
  • Perform analysis on Low Observable data to identify component and system performance shortfalls and develop mitigation steps to achieve allocations/specifications
  • Participate in various process teams and ad hoc groups to develop Low Observable related system requirements, as well as operational employment plans and concepts
  • Willing and able to work independently and mentor junior engineersBasic Qualifications:
    • The basic qualifications for the Principal Systems Architect are a Bachelor's of Science degree in STEM discipline AND 5 years of related professional experience in Engineering, OR a Master's degree AND 3 years of related professional experience in Engineering, OR a PhD
    • The basic qualifications for the Sr Principal Systems Architect are a Bachelor's of Science degree in STEM discipline AND 9 years of related professional experience in Engineering, OR a Master's degree AND 7 years of related professional experience in Engineering, OR a PhD AND 4 years of related professional experience in Engineering
    • Must have an active DoD Top Secret clearance (with an in-scope background investigation or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
    • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
    • Strong experience and/or knowledge in signature reduction technology integration, RCS design, analysis, testing, and material selection
    • Experience using 1D, 2D, and 3D computational electromagnetic (CEM) codes such as Method of Moments and Physical Optics to develop technical solutions for survivable components
    • Experienced in one or more CAD software solutions such as CATIA, Unigraphics, NXPreferred Qualifications:
      • Experience with Fighter RCS design for Maritime environment
      • Proficiency in RF modeling and testing at an indoor/outdoor RCS/RF test facility
      • Proficient in development, executing, and analyzing tests
      • Experience with budget tree analysis, antenna integration, system rollups, and tracking technical pedigree
      • Experience with survivable edges or propulsion systems
      • Strong interpersonal communication and technical writing skills to enable effective personal interaction and collaboration with a multi-disciplined team and customers
      • Ability to work with internal support organizations such as Global Supply Chain and Security
      • Programming experience in C++, MATLAB, Python, or other highly technical languages
      • Ability to use CAE and/or FEA tools (i.e. FMS, Patran, Cubit, etc.)
      • Strong knowledge and ability with RCS data processing tools, such as Knowbell, SABER, or Pioneer

        Salary Range: $87,600 USD - $152,200 USDSalary Range 2: $108,600 USD - $188,600 USD

        Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
