Reiss Engineering, a CHA Company, is currently seeking a Senior Inspector to join our Water Resources Business Practice group in our Melbourne, FL office.Ensuring water is clean and safe is one of the most important services that each community can provide. To that end, CHA has developed thousands of water, wastewater, and reclaimed water-related projects, each taking into account our clients' unique environmental, water quality, permitability, and funding concerns. Our water and wastewater services include full engineering and support services for municipal utility clients from initial planning through permitting, design, bidding, construction administration, start-up, certification, and ongoing operational assistance.CHA Consulting is hiring aSenior Inspectorfor a pipeline project in Melbourne Florida consisting of 48,000 linear feet of parallel 16-inch potable water main. The construction duration is approximately 18-24 months. Approximately 16,000 linear feet of potable water main will be installed via horizontal directional drill under the Banana and Indian Rivers. Candidates should have experiencefocused in the area of horizontal directional drilling for sub-aqueous pipeline construction projects. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing field verification of conformance with contract documents. The estimated project start date is May 2021.Inspection experience with horizontal direction drilling projects (Sub-aqueous experience preferred but not required)Experience as a construction foreman, construction superintendent, construction engineer, or RPR on projects similar to the type, complexity and size of the project. Understanding of the current OSHA construction safety regulationsFamiliar with various construction means and methods of pipeline identification, tracing, and installation proceduresFamiliar with company, client, government, and industry standardsFollows verbal and written directivesObserves and monitors construction for conformance with contract documents and shop drawings/material submittalsRecords field observations and determines acceptability of construction work performedMakes field measurements, computations, and records of acceptable workAble to review and recommend acceptance or rejection of contractor’s proposed corrective measures for nonconforming workMonitors contractor’s quality control and verifies construction confirms to the contractor’s quality control plan. Calculates the quantity of acceptable completed work for paymentPrepares reports outlining the work performed and the quality of work completed and acceptable for paymentReviews and verifies contractor’s payment applications, proposals, and change order requestsCoordinates construction activities with owner, serves as main contact with client on construction related issues, and interacts with local government authoritiesPrepares and maintains project records in accordance with the company’s, client’s, and government standardsCoordinates or conducts quality assurance testing, inspections and surveysChairs project related meetings and oversees the preparation and distribution of meeting agendas, summaries, and any necessary project administration documentationConducts constructability reviews and verifies quantity calculations. Conducts minor quality control reviews during project developmentCompletes project close-out with little oversightMentors and oversees entry level staff activitiesOther related duties, as assignedHigh School Diploma required, Associate’s degree in Engineering Science, Construction Services or related technical field preferredValid Driver’s License requiredA minimum of 5 years of related construction observation experience requiredInspection experience with horizontal direction drilling projects (Sub-aqueous experience preferred but not required)Experience as a construction foreman, construction superintendent, construction engineer, or RPR on projects similar to the type, complexity and size of the project.
