The Cape Canaveral, FL-based recovery team is looking for an individual to be responsible for the preparation and execution of Falcon 9 recovery missions on land and at sea.


  • Help lead the execution of droneship mission preparation procedures such as refueling, consumables replacement, inspections and securing of hardware
  • Run droneship checkouts and troubleshoot if necessary to ensure all systems are functioning properly prior to departure
  • Lead offshore and land based droneship missions to ensure a successful recovery of the Falcon 9 first stage
  • Identify areas to improve safety, reliability and efficiency of the Falcon 9 recovery systems
  • Work with engineers and technicians to maintain existing systems in the field
  • Perform repositioning of the droneship between docks
  • Maintain an inventory of critical spares
  • Train to support the mission remotely including Octograbber operations and dynamic positioning system operations


  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working in a technical field
  • 3+ years of experience working with and troubleshooting complex mechanical systems
  • 3+ years of experience working in a critical operational setting


  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • Experience with fluid systems
  • Experience with high pressure systems
  • Offshore/marine experience
  • A demonstrated ability in reading and understanding technical drawings, manuals and reports
  • Able to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
  • Strong leadership, conceptual, communication and organizational skills
  • Passion for advancing the commercial space industry and human spaceflight


  • Ability to climb ladders and work in tight spaces
  • Willing to work with hazardous materials
  • Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small openings, climbing hand over hand, and lifting up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to work at elevated heights (up to 300 feet), including the use of ladders and lifts
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs regularly throughout the day
  • Willing to work in extreme outdoor environments - heat, cold, rain, wind, open ocean
  • Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
  • When necessary, must be willing to work long hours and weekends to support launch and critical project timelines
  • Ability to work on offshore vessels for extended duration without access to emergency services normally available on shore
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery
  • Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
  • Position is subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing
