Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for a Manager Software Engineering 2 position. The selected candidate will be responsible for the functional management of the software engineering personnel under the NGAS R&AD and Common Products Software Department. The position will report to a part of our Software Engineering organization for their assignment tasking. The manager will be overseeing Program personnel specializing in DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, Integration, SW Development, and Deployment of manned and unmanned systems in a cloud environment. Conducting performance assessments, staffing, employee development, communication meetings, disciplinary actions, compensation adjustments, training & educational oversight/ approval, and other routine personnel issues.
develop designs and software in a team environment; and be able to provide technical guidance for junior engineers, provide leadership integrating software in a laboratory environment, and able to develop the complete documentation set required for the software life cycle.
This role will work closely with program-assigned systems engineering, software development, and management professionals to ensure that the software lifecycle is accomplished with high quality and efficiency.
Ability to track both the quality and timeliness of the organization's products, and identification and remediation of potential issues before they become problems.
Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics--(STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of software engineering experience OR Master's Degree with 7 years of software engineering experience.
An active DoD Secret clearance that is in-scope with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation.
Experience with DevOps.
Experience with Cloud Technologies.
Experience with Integrating Cloud Enabled Ground System (CEGS)
Experience as Agile Scrum Master / Product Owner / Working in Agile teams.
Experience with leading or working in Agile teams.
Strong C++/Java or Scripting Languages (e.g., Python).
Previous experience leading a team of 10+ employees with a record of on-time performance.
Prior experience with task/resource planning.
Solid understanding of software engineering best practices and the software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, development, documentation, testing, and deployment.
