This team supports HF and VHF communication radio development. Expect to lead and oversee a wide variety of software tasks that include (but are not limited to) developing real-time flight critical application software, performing hardware/software integration in the lab, designing / architecting new solutions to meet the needs of our customers and developing requirements and tests to validate the software. As a Staff Software Engineer working with a large team you will lead SW architecture design, oversee development and integration of complex features and functionality. In addition, the assignment will require assisting in other elements of the software/systems engineering process including requirements analysis and capture, system/sub-system design, software requirements definition, integration, and formal test for requirement verification. The candidate will perform these assignments in conjunction with other system and software engineers using Rockwell Collins engineering processes. A successful candidate will have previous experience directing a team in the above tasks, as well as experience grounded in internal communication and experience in direct interaction with customers and leadership including presentations, technical exchanges, and project status. Relocation assistance is available once we return to the site. Primary Responsibilities: * Serve as a technical project lead working with a large software team to develop plans to meet deliverables dates and resolve issues with cross functional teams. * Contribute to software engineering requirements capture and analysis in areas of domain expertise. * Design, code, test, integrate, and document software of moderate to high complexity. Capable of building software for simulation and target hardware environments. * Able to identify the root cause of moderate to complex software issues and some systems issues using appropriate debug and analysis tools. * Understands internal processes, methods and tools for systems development and documentation efforts. * Capable of producing engineering estimates for projects. Will contribute to Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) and Bid proposals and/or lead a software team in a technical role. * Demonstrates the ability to follow through on work assignments with little to no further prompting and raises any potential issues found to leadership. * Commit to mentoring and developing other team member's abilities. Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree and 7 years of relevant experience OR * Advance degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR * In absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required * Have 5+ years of real time embedded software systems development experience including defining and documenting requirements, software design and development, programming, testing, and implementation * Have demonstrated team leadership experience * A strong working knowledge of C/C++, object oriented design, and real time operating systems Preferred Qualifications: * Background in Avionics including DO-178B/C experience * Agile Collins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry.
