Job Title: Community Affairs DirectorJob ID: CHQ20191406-31703Job Location: Melbourne, FL The Director, Community Affairs develops, directs and coordinates global community affairs and philanthropy for Harris Corporation. Responsible for developing strategies, representing the company with external audiences, managing team of professional staff, preparing and recommending budgets and executing plans. This role requires one to work closely with various members of the senior leadership team and at all levels of the company. The Director, Community Affairs has a broad business orientation and responsibility for the following: * Develop and execute a global community affairs strategy and plan for the company's philanthropic, community and volunteer work.
* Represent the company with community leaders and build relationships with key organizations to align with our overall business goals.
* Manage the volunteer program ensuring engagement, compliance and support.
* Manage the Community Affairs Network which includes individuals that represent community affairs and serve as ambassadors within the organization.
* Manage the Harris Foundation including allocating funds, reporting and managing matching gifts, and working closely with legal to ensure compliance.
* Lead community programs in Brevard County such as United Way and others.
* Lead a small team and drive processes and systems to continually improve the quality and impact of all donations, activities and campaigns delivered by the team.
* Find ways to measure the impact and value of investments in community engagement.
* Attract and retain talent through the effective coaching of others and a good understanding of team dynamics.
* Work with Corporate Communications on the preparation of content for internal and external company publications and communications
* Prepare high level presentations and talking points that will be used by senior leadership
* Travel (10%) to support multiple work locations. Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, English or related Field.
* 15+ years of experience in communications, public relations / agency experience, or comparable communications experience
* 2+ years of supervisory and/or major project leadership experience Preferred Additional Skills: * Experience in planning and implementing complex internal communications plans and projects for complex organization, with track record of increasing responsibility
* Experience with defense, space, aerospace, or high technology cultures is preferred.
* Project planning skills and detailed oriented
* Self-motivation and discipline to regularly set and achieve work goals.
* Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite, internet navigation/research, CSR software, and SharePoint.
* Experience in event planning and the execution of large events
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Experience working with all levels of the organization and community
* Experience speaking in front of a large audience and making presentations
* Understanding of web development, presentations, and charts
* Microsoft SharePoint experience a plus
