This role is specifically for Supplier Relationship Management /
Supplier Quality Engineering. Significant travel > 50% should be
anticipated when necessary (including unplanned travel to support
missions)----- Candidate will align with optical category Strategic
Sourcing Manager to drive cost target, risk mitigation, and
partnership strategies--- Demonstrated experience in Supplier
Relationship Management (SRM) preferred--- Research and find the
best suppliers to supply materials needed for manufacturing---
Conduct supplier capability, capacity, risk, and quality control
audits on a regular basis to ensure suppliers and their supplies
remain in compliance with company and federal manufacturing and
production standards--- Understand and interpret all manufacturing
audits, including AS9100 and other industry standards---
Demonstrate working knowledge of manufacturing processes and be
able to support supplier development, continuous improvement, and
quality management initiatives--- Act as "voice of supplier" within
DRS to ensure that all issues that could cause a risk to schedule
and material conformance are addressed timely--- Responsible for
designing quality improvement initiatives and processes across a
line of business or commodity--- Mentor and coach other
engineers--- Responsible for establishing quality programs and for
driving quality improvement initiatives internally and at
suppliers--- Design, develop, analyze, document and support quality
programs such as Six Sigma/Lean, SPC, FMEA, etc.--- Review customer
specifications and requirements, and develop quality systems and
processes to best support them--- Provide budget, cost and schedule
input for quality assignments--- Analyze designs as necessary and
make recommendations from a quality and manufacturing
perspective--- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with
manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customer as
required Specialties may include: --- Optical Engineering---

--- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field
with a minimum of 10 years of experience--- Ability to complete a
technical project independently--- Experience with military
programs and qualifications is desired Knowledge in the Following
Areas (required): --- Optical Profilometry--- Optical
Interferometry--- Aspheric Metrology--- Optical Manufacturing
Processes--- Thin Film coating--- Spectrophotometry--- Angle
Metrology using an Auto-Collimator--- Surface Quality Inspection
with a working knowledge of Mil-PRF-13830 & ISO 10110-8 Knowledge
in the Following Areas (preferred): --- Optical Scatter
Metrology--- Diamond Turning and Diamond machining--- MTF
Testing--- Interferometer Calibration and Scale Factors for
transmitted vs. reflected--- Off-Wavelength Metrology--- System
level interferometry--- How to use MetroPro Software from ZYGO---
Calculating the proper transmission sphere for a radius of
curvature--- Radius measurement using a radius slide--- InfraRed
