this role, you will be the functional manager for a matrixed
project engineering team that supports a portfolio of propulsion
development programs serving multiple customers. This team is
instrumental in establishing, implementing and improving
engineering integration and project management processes, standard
methodologies and tools to drive commonality and consistency across
our various engines programs. The team you spearhead works at the
intersection of program management, engineering, coordinated supply
chain and quality organizations, improving team efficiency and
coordination, and ensuring that the right people are working
together to tackle problems and deliver results on time.
Ultimately, you will be key to encouraging a system-of-systems
perspective and culture and integrating project engineering
methodology throughout the life cycle of engine development,
production, certification, and operations.You will work with the
Engines Design Office (see various locations), and your team to
establish technical and project management standards, share best
practices and lessons learned across Blue Engines and the company,
and continuously improve the tools and expertise of our amazing
team. As part of a diverse and hardworking team, you will be
responsible for the employee lifecycle including performance
management and career development, training, allocating engineering
resources to across programs and driving project engineering
uniformity and approaches across each of our Engine Programs. You
must enjoy solving communication and organizational problems,

required!Responsibilities:
- Coach and mentor the team of dedicated Project Engineers by
giving them actionable feedback, setting clear goals, and
coordinating project work with other teams and managers
- Own the methodology and strategy for Project Engineering best
practices with the objective of driving consistency and uniformity
across Engine programs
- Work with product management to develop roadmaps and project
plans for enhancing existing services and developing new services
that the team owns
- Drive and cultivate strategic partnerships and relationships
with relevant teams across Blue Origin
- Recruit, develop, and inspire Project Engineers in support of
the Program Managers of each Engines System/Sub-System
- Create and lead short term to long term goals and objectives
for the team
- Lead by example, care for the team, and establish credibility
with the quality of the team's technical executionQualifications:
- 8+ years of Systems or Project Engineering experience,
including sophisticated system development projects within the
Aerospace, automotive or similar safety critical industry.
- 4+ years of demonstrated experience leading direct-reporting
team members or indirect/matrixed program team members
- B.S. degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or
equivalent.
- Technical expertise within one of the following areas:
Combustion Devices, Valves, Turbomachinery, Avionics and
Engine/Assembly Test
- Knowledge and strong fundamentals in project management
approaches and techniques
- Experience leading and managing small teams on fast-paced
projects with little direction and under minimal supervision
- Building trusting, strategic and effective working
relationships that improve team performance and deliver
results
- Risk management, configuration management, requirements
development, and verification planning
- Earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships,
and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident
(current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as
a refugee or granted asylum.Desired:
- Master's Degree (M.S.) or higher in aerospace, systems
engineering, business or a related field
- Technical expertise with liquid rocket engines and test
facilities
- Experience developing aerospace products from concept phase
