Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Vehicle Management Systems Engineer /Principal Systems Engineer - Subsystems to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Position is located in Melbourne, Florida.Vehicle Management Systems (VMS) Engineer requires coursework and/or experience in aircraft vehicle management systems.A VMS engineer designs and develops system architectures, and defines key capabilities and performance requirements. Defines design and technology maturity constraints of the system in accordance with customer specifications. Develops thorough definition of system external interfaces. Defines system implementation approach and operational concept. Ensures requirements are met and evaluates performance with customer.Duties include: flight critical system design for aircraft control; architecture design with optimized redundancy levels; trade studies; specification of hardware elements and technical support to procurement; vehicle management software specification and oversight; fault management design; lab testing of flight hardware & software; on-aircraft testing; support to vehicle flight testing; and anomaly resolution. We seek candidates with strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team, and the ability to organize work, manage time, plan, and prioritize.Primary responsibilities will include VMS Specification development, requirements definition, functional modeling, and VMS testing. In addition, engineer will support subsystems to VMS interfaces including managing requirements, design, testing and presenting updates to internal and external customers.This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed belowBasic QualificationsThis requisition may be filled at either a Systems Engineer or a Principal Engineer levelThe basic qualifications for a Systems Engineer are

• Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field with 2 years of integration test engineering experience OR a Master's Degree in (STEM)
• Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to start of employment.The basic qualifications for a Principal Systems Engineer are
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field with 5 years of integration test engineering experience OR a Master's Degree in (STEM) with 3 years of integration test engineering experience OR a PhD Degree in (STEM.)
  • Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to start of employment.Preferred Qualifications
    • Previous experience with design, development, and/or integration of Air Vehicle systems and subsystems in the military aerospace environment.
    • Hands-on experience writing engineering modeling and simulation code
    • Prior airworthiness experience
    • Integrated Hardware/Software (Subsystem/System Feature) validation experience.
      
      Salary Range: $71,100 USD - $106,700 USDSalary Range 2: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD
      
      Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
