Summary:
The Director of Risk Management is responsible for the development,
implementation and management of the hospital wide risk management,
infection control, patient safety programs, and performance
improvement.Also managed by this position are Infection Control and
Employee Health.The incumbent works with physicians, staff, and
management to champion the adoption of quality, patient safety, and
process improvement concepts and principles.Assist to develop a
culture of safety and quality through leadership, role modeling,
teaching, and mentoring.
Directing, facilitating and coordinating organization-wide Risk
Management functions for the hospital.
Direct the hospital wide Performance Improvement program as well as
manage the accreditation process to include but not limited to the
Joint Commission and Center for Medicare and Medicaid.
Demonstrates twenty four hour accountability for department
services, and ensuring risk management programs are initiated
effectively and meet the needs of the organization.
Lead coordination of customer satisfaction feedback and
interpreting, assessing and implementation of regulatory standards
(e.g. TJC, CMS, COP and HIPPA).
Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for the occurrence
reporting system; analyzes and reports trends and identifies
appropriate interventions to reduce risk and liability to the
organization.
Develops and implements educational programs for employees, medical
staff and board members or analysis of risk assessment, historical
and concurrent occurrence and claims data and national trends.
Facilitates and directs organizational wide risk management program
to ensure compliance with statutory mandates, regulatory
requirements and accreditation standards of professional
organization, i.e., OSHA, JCAHO, CMS, HIPPA, etc.
Applies the principles of continuous performance improvement in
delivery of services, through measuring, monitoring and assessing
risk management processes and systems.
Participates in and provides leadership for organizational disaster
preparedness and patient safety initiatives.
Ensures and contributes to continuity of care through demonstrated
use of interdisciplinary team approach to patient
care.Collaborates, shares pertinent information with members of the
healthcare team regarding the risk management program
Actively contributes to and works toward hospital wide improvement
in meeting core measures, patient safety and service excellence
goals.
Experience:
3-5 years of acute care clinical nursing experience preferred
Knowledge of State, Federal, and JCAHO regulations required
3-5 years prior experience in Performance Improvement, Risk
Management and Infection Control required
Prefer three years of management experience in QI-PI and knowledge
of change management and other emerging approaches to performance
improvement in a acute care-hospital setting required
Qualifications:
BSN or BS in a healthcare or related field
Masters degree preferred
State Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
Licensed Healthcare Risk Manager (LHRM) preferred
