This position is to serve as the Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) Autopilot Lead of a fly-by-wire fixed wing aircraft program. The Autopilot Lead reports to the GN&C sub-Integrated Product Team (IPT) with the responsibility to provide leadership and oversight to the GN&C autopilot team tasked with maturation of autopilot control laws and integration with the Vehicle Management System. The GNC autopilot team tasks include: design, develop, implement, verify and test algorithms, software and simulation tools for pilot relief autopilot control laws and associated logic functions of manned aircraft. Develop air vehicle system linear and non-linear dynamic simulation models and integrate models into software and hardware-in-the-loop simulation environments. Perform performance and flying qualities analysis. Support pilot-in-the-loop simulation handling qualities testing. Analyze air vehicle flight test data and support flight test activities. MELENG vehicleengBasic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited universitywith a minimum of9 years' experiencein aerospace or a Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) disciplinefrom an accredited university with a minimum of 7 years' experience in aerospace MATLAB and/or Simulink programming skills Experienced in Air Vehicle Autopilot or Outer-loop control law design Experiencebeing involved in aircraft control law development and test Active DoD Secret Clearance (or higher) and the ability to obtain and maintain special program access Preferred Qualifications: C/C++ Programming Skills Experience designing control laws for piloted fixed wing aircraft, performing handling qualities analyses, and pilot-in-loop evaluations Working knowledge of MIL-STD-1797 flying qualities requirements Experience with CNS/ATM requirements Experience with RNAV/RNP PhD or Master's Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
