Engineers work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines to engineer design solutions to challenging problems through the development of Product Definition Packages.The successful candidate will draw upon their experience to aid in the design and analysis of aircraft primary structure. Collaboration and a forward thinking approach are important to ensure we remain the supplier of choice for our customers. You will also be the face of Quest Defense to your customers. Through listening to customer challenges, and building on your previous experiences, you will find creative approaches that will solve their most difficult engineering problems.One of the most critical aspects to the role is ability to adapt to changing requirements and priorities, collaborate with teammates and customers, and communicate effectively with Quest and customer stakeholders. Successful candidates will be proactive in overcoming obstacles, providing answers to questions, leading program governance and KPI tracking, and always looking for ways to improve. Its important to be communicating clearly and often to all stakeholders within Quest and customer.Potential Job FunctionsThe essential description of the role is working with a major defense contractor on aircraft structures. Capture system requirements from the customer and incorporate into the component design Support technical substantiation Contribute to technical and program reviews Design and Analysis of the component using CAE tools (NX, Nastran/Patran, ANSYS Classic, ANSYS Workbench) is a plus Direct interface with other internal/external engineering areas Apply technical principles, theories, and concepts to solve a wide range of challenging engineering problems Evaluate fit, form, function and life of the components relative to the certified configuration. This position description is not intended to be all-inclusive and employee will also perform other tasks as assigned As an engineering services provider employee, be willing to try different services and accept new responsibilities as projects end and new projects beginQualificationsSelected candidate must possess substantial experience with design and fabrication techniques for aircraft primary structural details, assemblies, and installations utilizing both metallic and composite materials. Designers will be expected to work independently in the development of advanced assembly techniques in collaboration with structural analysis, manufacturing, materials and processes, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate is detail oriented and highly collaborative. There will be a significant amount of interaction with the customers teams. Listening to the customers issues and offering proactive solutions is critical to building a strong relationship with this new customer.Were excited to talk to you if your qualifications meet the following criteria: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of 6 years experience to include a background in aerospace structural design or Masters Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 4 year experience to include a background in aerospace structural design Experience designing aircraft structure Proficiency with NX Solid Modelling Proficiency with TeamCenter Preliminary design experience of primary and secondary structures with derived loads, environmental assumptions and an understanding of the mfg. methodologies Ability to easily interpret technical drawings with understanding of GD&T Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work under time constraints, maintain composure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to interact with employees/managers at all levels with strong oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment Like to work in a fast paced, creative environment Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (or higher) that is in-scope (granted or renewed within the last 6 years) Must be able to attain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP), prior to the commencement of employmentPhysical Requirements &Work Environment Office environment Substantial amounts of telephone and computer work Heavily regulated industries with strict adherence to procedures Flexibility to meet business deadlines by staying late or arriving early Ability to use personal transportation to visit customer locations or Quest office(s) Periodic travel to customer locations may be requiredLocation : Melbourne, FLTravel : Compensation type : Competitive wages.
