Principal NDI/Materials & Processes Engineer / Sr. Principal
NDI/Materials & Processes Engineer - Additive Manufacturing to join
our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Position is located in
Melbourne, Florida. This requisition may be filled at a higher
grade based on qualifications listed below. Responsibilities may
include the following: Performs root cause analysis of material
failures, provides effective solutions to production composite
issues. Generates test plans & reports. Analyzes, researches,
designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and
application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in
engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and
subsystems. Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material
behavior to develop non-metallic processing specifications,
fabrication and assembly processes. Develops, analyzes and applies
material properties and design allowables, processing processes and
quality engineering specifications. Material analyses may include
failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life
predictions, and definition and requirement specifications. May
review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.
May travel to subcontractor locations.Basic Qualifications:
- Basic Qualifications for a Principal M&P Engineer are a
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or
Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 5 years of
experience to include a background in non-destructive inspection
for airframe structures OR Master's degree in a STEM discipline
with a minimum of 3 years of experience to include a background in
non-destructive inspection for airframe structures.
- Basic Qualifications for the Sr Principal M&P Engineer are
a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or
Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 9 years of
experience to include a background in non-destructive inspection
for airframe structures OR Master's degree in a Science,
Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a
minimum of 7 years of experience to include a background in
non-destructive inspection for airframe structures.
- Experience with metal or composite fabrication and design on
aircraft
- Experience with repair processes for metal or composite
materials used in aerospace structures
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance prior to
start
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access
Program (SAP) clearance prior to start Preferred Qualifications:
- BS or MS, Materials Science or similar
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or
accomplishing them simultaneously
- Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop
solutions
- Experience with military specs and standards.
- Experience interfacing with a military customer. Salary Range:
$79,700 USD - $119,500 USD Salary Range 2: $98,700 USD - $148,100
USD Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition
to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual
contributions as well as allow employees to share in company
results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be
eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman
