Job Description:

*Job purpose*To provide senior Structural Engineering expertise, as well as mentoring and supervising assistance for CDE/8-koi; a diverse Florida based company that has been providing outstanding engineering and design services to clients in Federal, State and Local government sector with emphasis on military and space program support services, as well as meeting the needs of commercial and residential clients for over 13-years. Focus of efforts revolve around CDE's structural projects consisting primarily with roof and/or structural component rehabilitation of existing facilities, new facilities, and/or additions to existing buildings/facilities/campuses. Coordinates with CDE/8-koi MEP Departments and/or other Site/Civil/AE Firms as required.*Duties and responsibilities*Technical Responsibilities *(80% of Positional weight of effort)*--- Collects data and gathers information or documents.--- Performs standard computations or analysis with Department staff.--- Prepares drawings and visual aids.--- Observes construction activities.--- Performs basic survey work.--- Performs basic design tasks.--- Assists on other tasks such as: preparation of permit applications, material testing, drawings, and CAD work.--- Performs moderate design tasks.--- Prepares portions of project documents.--- Creates, edits, reviews, and approves technical specifications.--- Performs research and investigations.--- Serves as the technical specialist for the organization in the application of advanced concepts, principles, and methods in an assigned area.--- Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for recommending changes in programs or applications.--- Interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates assignments for engineering staff.--- Assists in the development of standards and guidelines.--- Leads the organization in a broad area of specialization or in a narrow but intensely specialized field.--- Reviews complete project documents for Scope of Work (SOW) conformity, quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC).--- Serves as the technical specialist for the organization in the application of advanced concepts, principles, and methods in an assigned area.--- Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for recommending changes in programs or applications.--- Interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates assignments.--- Assists in the development of standards and guidelines.--- Leads the organization in a broad area of specialization or in a narrow but intensely specialized field.--- Reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.--- Any additional related tasks issued by superiors.Applicant shall apply his or her own knowledge of engineering and various office technologies in many various assignments. Typical characteristics a candidate must have for this position include:--- Applies a thorough knowledge of current principles and practices of engineering as related to the variety of aspects affecting his or her organization.--- Applies knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions.--- Keeps informed of new methods and developments affecting his or her organization and recommends new practices or changes in emphasis of programs.--- Uses creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented problems.--- Makes decisions and recommendations that are authoritative and have an important impact on extensive organizational activities.--- Sets priorities and reconciles directions from competing interests.--- Works on projects with complex features.--- Routinely interacts with clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others.--- Leads project meetings and makes presentations.--- Represents the organization and maintains liaison with individuals and related organizations.--- Sensitivity to confidential matters is required.Managerial Responsibilities *(20% of Positional weight of effort)*:--- Reviews and approves scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.--- Prepares proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs.--- Able to supervises a project team of engineers, technicians, and consultants.--- Plans, schedules, or coordinates the preparation of documents or activities for multiple projects and/or is responsible for an entire program of an organization.--- Reviews operational procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies and performance measures.Applicant is also responsible for maintaining 8-koi / CDE Company Standards and Practices.Expected to be true "team players" realizing that their contributions affect the outcome of projects; this also includes profitability.*Qualifications* - Must be eligible to work in the US. - 8+ years related experience primarily focused on: structural work on roof and/or structural component rehabilitation of existing facilities, or new additions to existing buildings/facilities (Required) - Knowledge and experience in Structural Forensics capabilities (Desired) - Minimum of Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university - Possess a current Florida Professional Engineer License* Possess a valid Florida Driver's License and a reliable mode of transportation.* Pass an entry drug screen and remain drug free throughout employment. - Possess a strong work ethic and team player mentality. - Exceptional multitasking abilities and flexibility. - Ability to read and interpret complex documents such as regulations and contract requirements. - Ability to communicate effectively, both written and spoken. - Skilled use of Adobe Acrobat. - Moderate typing speed. - Internet usage. - Task planning / Calendar management. - Active member of professional practice organization. - Must be proficient in the use ofo Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Wordo Autodesk AutoCAD and Revito RISAo PROFISo ENTERCALCo HILTIo SIMPSONo SPECSINTACT*Working conditions*Working conditions are within a normal office environment.*Physical requirements*Normal office environment mobility; sitting, walking, bending, stooping, standing, lifting a maximum of 25 pounds (greater than 25 pounds requires a two-person lift), turning, pushing, as required.Normal office dexterity, to include; reaching, handling, grasping, to include typing/keyboard, and phone use.Occasional Field Site Inspection visits, to include (but not limited to), use of fall protection and/or other appropriate PPE, use of ladders, access to confined or confining spaces, walking, bending, stooping, standing, lifting a maximum of 25 pounds (greater than 25 pounds requires a two-person lift), turning, pushing, as required.These are key requirements for individuals to be able to work in this environment.
