Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector has an opening for a
Senior Principal Air Vehicle Proposal Engineer to join our team of
qualified, diverse individuals. This role will be located in
Melbourne, FL and can be hired at a higher grade based on
- The candidate will report to both the Air Vehicle IPT Leader
and to the Air Vehicle Proposal Manager.
- The candidate will ensure that the proposal is technically
sound and meets all budgetary and schedule requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and coordinate a small team of
engineers in proposal activities supporting a Corporate Priority
- Lead a team producing the engineering artifacts to support
- The team will be engaged in estimating, cost reduction
opportunities, hardware trade studies associated with sourcing, and
Integrated Master Plan (IMP) / Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)
- Verify the proposal offering meets requirements and is capable
of being executed within the specified contract limits.
- Attend internal program, customer and/or supplier technical
exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to
provide and/or obtain progress status updates.
- Other responsibilities and duties include managing team cost
and schedule and mentoring junior engineers in Crew Systems/Station
design and analysis techniques.The selected candidate should thrive
in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations,
significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings
across all levels. The candidate must be a self-starter capable of
flourishing in an environment with minimal direction. The candidate
will need to have excellent communication and writing skills with
experience in Microsoft Word and Excel.Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline AND 9 years
of industry experience with expertise in aircraft Crew Systems/
Stations plus a working knowledge of other Air Vehicle fields
(Subsystems, Configuration, Flight Sciences, etc.)
- Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher (that has a
background investigation completed within the last 6 years or is
under continuous evaluation).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Access Programs
(SAP) prior to the commencement of employment.Preferred
- Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or
- Familiarity with NX CAD software and Teamcenter PLM.
- Managerial / Team Lead experience.
- Earned Value Management experience.
- Experience with proposals and program captures within the
Aerospace and Defense industry
Salary Range: $98,700 USD - $148,100 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to
base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual
contributions as well as allow employees to share in company
results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be
eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman
