The Boeing Defense, Space & Security Business Unit is seeking an Associate Structural & Payload Design Engineer (Level 2). This position is located at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Position Responsibilities: Assists to develop, integrate and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design. Develops, maintains and modifies basic structural space vehicle and facility system and component designs. Assists with the use of 3D laser scanning and survey equipment used for creating as-built and models of large structures, platforms and facilities. Utilizes 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers. Contributes to the integration of engineering models across Boeing and NASA customers to provide a functional end-product. Ability to Lead a project and work under low supervision, ability to multitask and ability to work well within a team environment. Mentors less experienced personnel. This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. US Person includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility. Strong communication skills both written and verbal. Exposure to/or hands on use of tracking and scanning (metrology) equipment. 3 or more years experience and understanding of high end CAD tools such as CATIA, DELMIA, UG, NX or SolidWorks. Comfortable presenting engineering findings to groups of 20-30 of your peers. Comfortable occasionally working outdoors on and around structures for extended period of time. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Knowledge of photoshop for high-res image rendering and printing. Experience with video editing and production for final product delivery. Experience with the use of tracking and scanning (metrology) equipment. 3 or more years of Experience with 3D printer SW and 3D printing methodology. Ability to script in CAD tools. Exposure to or hands on experience with coordinate measurement systems or surveying. Experience with coding in C+. Typical Education / Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense. This position is considered safety-sensitive as defined by NASA Federal Acquisition Regulation and is subject to additional drug and alcohol program requirements such as random testing.
