Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Human Factors Engineer (HFE) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida. In this position, the new team member will be part of the team ensuring the evolving aircraft hardware and software systems are operable by US military flight and maintenance crews. This position requires a background in Systems Engineering. In this position, the selected candidate will apply human performance principles, methodologies, and technologies to the design of human-machine systems and product. They will develop and implement research methodologies and statistical analysis plans to test and evaluate developmental prototypes used in new products and processes (e.g. cockpit designs, user workstations, and computerized human models). They will interface with design engineers and support the evolution of the human centered system design, operating, and training requirements. They will also support: the identification and analysis of technological problems or risks; the performance of theoretical human factors investigations; and the development and implementation of research and analysis plans. Essential Functions: Support the development / assessment of requirements and human interfaces that are compliant with Human Factors best practices and specified sections of MIL-STD-1472GSupport to Human Factors Analyses (including but not limited to: Task Analyses, Usability Analyses, Situation Awareness Analyses, and Workload Analyses)Support the development of system architectures, CONOPS, and use case development using model-based systems engineering methodologiesContribute to functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.Conduct computer based (NX Human Modeling) and empirical accessibility assessmentsSupport the assessment of anthropometric accommodation requirements complianceAuthor/support the program documentation of the HFE processes and products in a format consistent with US Military Data Item Descriptions (e.g. Human Engineering Program Plan, Human Engineering Design Approach Document Operator, Human Engineering Design Approach Document Maintainer, Human Engineering Test Plan, Human Engineering Test Report, et. al).Cross-IPT Collaboration MELENG syseng Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 2+ years of software engineering experience (degree examples include: Human Factors Engineering, Human Computer Interface, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Design, et al)OR-Master's Degree in STEM and 0 years of experience Able to function in multi-disciplinary team-oriented environment and rapidly adapt to changing work prioritiesActive DoD Secret security clearance (investigation updated within last 6 years)Ability to obtain additional Special Access Program (SAP) clearance before establishing a start date (contingency) Preferred Qualifications: Flight Crew CertificationsAircraft Maintenance CertificationsNX Human Modeling and NX Jack ExpertiseExperience with the interpretation and application of systems safety, personnel survivability, and habitability requirements to system designSignificant experience with Systems Engineering processes Proficiency in system modeling tools (i.e. CORE, Rhapsody, PTC Integrity Modeler, Cameo)Knowledge of SysML, UML, and UPDMExperience conducting structured trade studiesIntegration & test experienceExperience preparing Human Systems Interface Style GuidesProficiency with the user interface software prototyping toolsUnderstand systems and design thinking as well as HMI/HCI design principles and practices Experience with attack aircraft, airborne surveillance, battle management and command and control Experience with DOORS, MBSE and CANVAS modeling tools Higher than SECRET DoD security clearanceExperience authoring, evolving, decomposing and verifying requirements from system-level through software implementation-levelThe ability to clearly and accurately express engineering findings orally and in written technical reports and presentations is essential.Experience with requirements database development, management, maintenance experience (DOORS), Trade Studies analysis/development Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
