Job Description:

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is looking for a Staff Dynamics / Flutter Engineer at the Manned Aircraft Design Center of Excellent (COE). The preferred candidate will have a strong foundation in structural dynamic analysis with concentration in flow-structure coupling and aeroelastic analysis. The applicant will also serve as technical lead in all matters related to flutter, aero-servo elastic analysis and gust response analysis, and will help in the development of flutter analysis tools, methods and processes.The candidate will also be responsible for making real-time decisions during flutter flights including those that could affect aircrew safety. Knowledge of flutter flight test instrumentation including excitation systems, accelerometers, strain gages, sample rates, anti-aliasing and telemetry data processing techniques is required. Knowledge and familiarity with post flight data processing and the resulting data products pertaining to flutter and dynamics is also required.MELENGvehicleengBasic Qualifications: BS degree in one of the following: Mechanical Engineering/Aerospace Engineering with minimum of 14 years of engineering experience or MS degree in one of the following: Mechanical Engineering/Aerospace Engineering with minimum of 12 years of engineering experience12 years of experience in Structural Dynamics, Aeroelasticity and Flow Structure Interactions working on military or government projects.Working knowledge of Structural Dynamics and Aeroelasticity design and test requirements including military standards and specifications.Experience performing flutter, gust, and ASE analysisThis position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of automated software testing methodologies and processesTest experience related to Air Vehicle Manned Lab Test, Air Vehicle Flight Test, Flutter Flight Test Programs, and model correlation to test dataDemonstrated ability to meet very short deadlines and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.Demonstrated leadership abilities to effectively lead a small team through all phases of analysis, design, and testing.Knowledge of the following tools: MATLAB, NASTRAN, FEMAP, ZAERO, and IADS, FEMTOOLS.Active DoD Secret clearanceNorthrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
