Job Description:

Brevard Public Schools is seeking two compassionate individuals as a Job Coach for Young Adults with Disabilities in Titusville and Central Brevard. A job coach works with young adults 18-21 with disabilities in the community setting in our BLAST Program. The BLAST (Brevard's Learners Achieving Successful Transition) Program was designed to meet the needs of Exceptional Education Students (ESE) who are 18-22 years old. The BLAST program focuses directly on transition opportunities and post-secondary goals of students who have deferred their diploma.

A Job Coach will work with young adults 18-21 with disabilities in the community setting. The job coach will meet interns at the job site and supervise from 9:30 - 1:30, with a 30 minute lunch break with interns. An additional 2 hours will be paid for documenting and following up with BLAST instructor, intern, site manager, and family contact. This position is up to 30 hours per week.

This student-driven/teacher-led program strives to work toward a level of independence for every student in the four main domains of transition: Independent Living, Vocational and Employment, Personal and Social, and Recreation and Leisure. Through hands-on learning centers and labs, members also gain knowledge and experience in a variety of independent living and self-determination skills. Young adults in the program will be encouraged to make choices, participate in work experiences, interact with others in the community, strengthen their confidence level and develop their social and communication skills across all settings.

This is a part-time, contracted position beginning August 2023 through May 2024 with the possibility of June hours. Up to 30 hours per week in the Titusville area and Central Brevard. Three or five days per week.

Requirements:


  • Valid Florida Driver License
  • Experience working with students with disabilities
  • A minimum of a high school diploma
  • Ability to carry out job responsibilities and handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Job Coach MUST carry liability insurance


    Pay is based on education and experience: $16.00 to $18.00 per hour.
