    Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Software Engineer / Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida .

    The software engineer will develop, modify and maintain customized or standardized embedded Mission Systems applications using software engineering best practices and standards, and participate in the full life-cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit to CSCI testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance.

    This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

    Basic Qualifications:

    This requisition may be filled at either a Software Engineer level or Principal Software Engineer level.
    • The basic qualifications for a Software Engineer are a Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of experience in software engineering OR Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university
    • The basic qualifications for a Principal Software Engineer are a Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of software engineering testing experience OR Master's Degree in STEM and 3 years of software engineering experience
    • Experience developing software / writing code in C++ and Python
    • Experience developing software with C/C++
    • Experience with objected oriented programming
    • Active DoD Secret clearance and ability to obtain special program access prior to start Preferred Qualifications:
      • Experience with Vehicle management software or equivalent VXWORKS
      • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
      • Experience with Eclipse, Git, Rhapsody, DOORS, Atlassian Tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, Crucible, Bamboo)
      • Experience with Agile development.
      • Experience with Google Test
      • Experience with scripting in Python and Bash
      • Experience developing software targeted for Linux
      • Active Program Access Salary Range: $70,600 USD - $105,800 USD
        Salary Range 2: $87,400 USD - $131,200 USD

        Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
