Instrumentation Mechanical Design Engineer / Principal
Instrumentation Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team of
qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in
Melbourne, FL. **This position may be filled by either an
Instrumentation Mechanical Design Engineer level or a Principal
Instrumentation Mechanical Design Engineer level based on the
qualifications listed. This position is in support of Flight Test
Instrumentation design solutions. The selected candidate should
have experience with mechanical engineering and design principles,
knowledge of basic systems engineering principles, requirements
management and system test design philosophy. You must have a
willingness to embrace change and work in an agile environment.
Occasional travel may be required to support project activities and
integration.Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for mechanical design while working on a team of
peers in support of Flight Test Instrumentation installations
development.
- Tasks include 3D modeling of instrumentation sensor
installations, electrical harness installations, and the design of
detailed parts such as secondary structures, brackets, and
specialty mounting hardware.
- Work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment,
interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other
technical disciplines.
- Use of the NX-Teamcenter tool suite and the ability to work
with product build packages.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to generate and release design
packages in CPLM
- Participate in on-site support at external product
manufacturing and integration sites.Basic Qualifications
(Instrumentation Mechanical Design Engineer):
- Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or
Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2
years of mechanical engineering experience OR 0 Years experience
with a Masters Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or
Mathematics (STEM) discipline
- Must have demonstrated experience of 2D/3D modeling design
utilizing NX or equivalent parametric modeling software.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret
Security Clearance or higher. This clearance must be obtained
within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to
meet its business needs.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Program Special
Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the
companyBasic Qualifications (Principal Instrumentation Mechanical
Design Engineer):
- Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or
Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5
years of mechanical engineering experience OR 3 years of mechanical
engineering experience with a Master's Degree
- Must have demonstrated experience of 2D/3D modeling design
utilizing NX or equivalent parametric modeling software.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret
Security Clearance or higher. This clearance must be obtained
within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to
meet its business needs.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Program Special
Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the
companyPreferred Qualifications:
- Experience utilizing CPLM for configuration management.
- Experience with aircraft design and flight test
instrumentation.
- Manufacturing/liaison support experience is also desired to
support build and installation of assemblies as well as testing of
aircraft systems.
- Experience in developing and managing test requirements
- Experience in subsystem, payload, or system integration
- Knowledge of aircraft-type cable and mechanical assemblies, MIL
type wiring and components such as mil connectors, back shells,
relays, switches, indicator lights, terminal junction system
components, etc.
- Secret level or higher DoD clearance
- Special Program Access Salary Range: $64,600 USD - $97,000 USD
Salary Range 2: $79,700 USD - $119,500 USD Employees may be
eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual
bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as
allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice
President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term
Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of
